What are the best men’s sunglasses? In this review, Dr. Allen from Doctor Eye Health shares we he considers to be the best sunglasses for men in 2021. Whether you are looking for the most stylish sunglasses for men or the best polarized sunglasses for men, you will find it here.
As many of my viewers know, I am a huge polarized sunglasses fan, and I am always on the lookout for the best sunglasses brand, new designs, and new technology.
I know that when I look to buy new sunglasses, it is rarely just about style and looking good, but it is about the function and quality of the sunglasses as well.
I think most men can identify with that if they are going to spend money and invest in something, they want that item to have a function, they want it to help them in their lives.
When it comes to selecting the top sunglasses for men, the frames and lenses featured below don’t just come with style but also have a superb visual enhancement effect, because sunglasses should not just look good, but also improve your visual performance.
Below are my top sunglasses choices for men in 2021, with a few honorable mentions:
1️⃣ Randolph Engineering Sunglasses
I fell in love with these a few years ago due to their high quality and customization available.
One cool fact about Randolph is that they are 100% made in the USA, and they are the individual sole distributor and maker of sunglasses for the US military!
They have many options for lens colors, technologies, shapes, designs, and polarization (or not!).
2️⃣ Maui Jim
These are a worldwide brand, manufactured in Italy and Japan.
They have a patent on the polarized filter on their lenses, making being on the water amazing.
They have many customization options for your lenses based on your needs.
Something I love about my Maui Jim lenses is the bigradient lens, leaving the central 1/3 of the lens a standard gray filter, but the bottom and top of the lens with a darker tint, meaning you get extra protection from light coming in from above you or bouncing off the water below.
3️⃣ Oakley Sunglasses
These sunglasses are best for a performance athlete. While Luxottica has purchased them, they are still quality sunglasses. They have enhanced contrast helping you detect subtle changes in the terrain. The lenses are curved so they don’t bother your cheeks, and the nose pad and temples are made with a silicone rubber so your sweat doesn’t cause the sunglasses to slip down.
I highly recommend that you try these on in person so you can get the full experience of their prism line lenses and find what’s best for you, because these types of prisms can help up your game in sports (such as golf) by enhancing subtle changes in the colors you see.
In addition, Oakley has both polarized and non-polarized lenses to help in sports where polarization can actually hinder your performance.
4️⃣ William Painter Sunglasses
An honorable mention, these sunglasses are very popular online. One fun style they have is called The Hook, which has a bottle opener on the side, making for a cool party trick.
This company is based out of Nevada and the frames are made in China.
5️⃣ Hobie Eyewear Sunglasses (more affordable option)
This brand has largely been a surfing/sailing company, and they are made with good lenses.
They have many uniqie options, including polarized lenses that are great for fishing, sunglasses that float, sunglasses with side shields to protect from extra glare while fishing, and ones with interchangeable lenses depending on your environment
Plus, they are a bit cheaper option compared to the others recommended here.
Final Thoughts
Sunglasses are not only a great fashion accessory and helpful for reducing light sensitivity (photophobia), but there are also many health benefits of sunglasses. Sunglasses SHOULD protect against ultraviolet light (UV light) and this helps prevent many different eye diseases and eyelid diseases from developing. I hope this guide helped!
