Which is better? Eyeglasses or contacts? I’m going to break down the major differences between contact lenses and glasses by going over the power, cost, and clarity of vision for each.
Glasses
Glasses have a lot of great benefits to them. They are easy to take on and off for situations where you need to do so, and great, quality lenses will give you an incredibly crisp image-typically have higher optical quality than any pair of contacts you’ll get. Glasses are also easily customizable and are a fun way to express your style!
In addition, prisms can be inserted in glasses, as well as bifocals, trifocals, etc. for those who need them. Pricing ranges dramatically with glasses, from extremely affordable, to exorbitant!
Contacts
Contacts, of course, give you freedom from having anything on your face, and this is especially beneficial for sporting events. With contacts, it’s also easy to wear non-prescription sunglasses and easily take them off without issues in your vision. Contacts also take away some of the motion sickness and distortion you can get while wearing glasses, and with contacts, you don’t have a frame obscuring your vision. Contact lenses can vary greatly in price, but it’s important to get quality ones that won’t have a negative impact on your health. You can typically expect a one year supply to cost at least $200-300.
Contacts do require more maintenance than glasses, and with that is a higher risk of infection. Some people find that they can feel uncomfortable or dry, especially if you have dry eyes already. Others find difficulty putting them in and taking them out.
So, which choice is best for you?
